Ever wonder why geese fly in a “V” formation? As each goose flaps its wings, it creates a lift for the bird immediately behind it. By flying in a “V” formation, the flock adds over 70% greater flying range than a goose flying on its own.
Meaning of Team
At Excelisys, we fly in a “V” formation. We utilize each other’s strengths, talents, and abilities. We lift each other up with praise, with words of encouragement, and with an understanding of what it takes to be the best. In short, we fly with a common purpose. As a result, we are more efficient, happier geese–humans, who provide our clients with solutions that reflect our collective strengths, not just the rogue ideas of one stray goose.
“Alone we can do so little. Together we can do so much.“
When the lead goose gets tired it rotates back into the wing formation and another goose flies in the point position.
At Excelisys, we are all capable leaders. We recognize those instances where one person may be better suited to serve as the point goose. Instead of fighting at the front of the formation, we enable the best–suited goose–person to take the lead.
A Collective Desire to Be the Best
Geese honk from behind to encourage those up front to keep up their speed.
At Excelisys, we push each other to be the best on behalf of our clients. We understand the great things each individual on our team can accomplish, and we strive to sustain that greatness. Sometimes it takes a little honking.
“There is no “I” in T-E-A-M“
– Brice Cummings’ Lacross Coach
Finally, when a goose gets sick or wounded and falls out of formation, two other geese fall out with that goose and follow it down to lend help and protection. They stay with the fallen goose until it is able to fly, and only then do they launch out on their own, or with another formation, to catch up with their group.
At Excelisys, we stand by each other in the best and worst of times. Our loyalty to one another and to our clients is reflected in the solutions we create and the strong relationships we build.
“Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.“
